Returning to Work in the Wake of COVID-19 – Perspectives from Leaders in Tech, HR, and Finance

The current pandemic has turned life as we know it upside down, and many businesses have been hit hard. Even if you’re one of the lucky companies who are still able to operate at full capacity without being in the office, you’ve had to alter procedures and operations to make sure you stay relevant and that your staff remains productive. In late April, Michigan’s Governor announced that the Stay Home, Stay Safe order will be lifted on May 15th and many businesses will be able to begin incorporating their work force back into the office. While we still don’t know all of the details of the reopening, business leaders have begun thinking about what this means for them – what precautions need to be taken within the office to ensure everyone stays healthy and safe? How do you rehire staff that have been furloughed or laid off? How do you properly manage the PPP loan you were approved for?

These questions, along with many others, have been on our minds since the order went into effect in late March, so we decided to get some industry leaders together to discuss how to navigate this time of uncertainty. In the panel discussion recording above, Mark Scovera from Plante Moran, Mitch Rogers from EmPower HR, and Awecomm’s very own David Townsend and Brent Yax dive into questions centered around what companies can do right now to prepare to reopen, as well as what obstacles the future holds from a technological, financial, and staffing point of view.
